Language and cultural barriers may prevent immigrant parents from participating more fully at their children's schools, so Connecticut high-school principal Suzanne Brown Koroshetz spearheaded the launch of the Voices of Immigrant Parents program to help such families navigate the school system, drawing hundreds of parents. These gatherings include such things as bilingual open houses, workshops and orientation sessions for parents of incoming freshman.
