The stereotype of Asian-Americans as academic overachievers has masked the needs of those Asian-American students with limited English and other disadvantages, according to a new collaborative report. "We are not an ethnic group every one of which has just graduated from Harvard," said U.S. Rep. David Wu, an Oregon Democrat. "A second group, equally important ... is low-income and low-education attainment, [but the first group] has completely overshadowed the existence of the other group of folks."
