An average of 70.6% of students graduated nationally in 2005, the most recent data available, up slightly from the prior year; however, the rates vary widely by state with just 45.4% of Nevada students earning diplomas while more than 83.3% of New Jersey students did, according to Education Week's annual Diplomas Count report. For the first time, the report also breaks down the graduation rates for each U.S. congressional district, as well as for D.C.
