Catechol-O-methyltransferase, a gene variant associated with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, failed to help researchers identify patients who would most benefit from a class of drugs called methylphenidates, a Canadian study found. The findings may affect the treatment of pediatric ADHD patients and should be confirmed in other populations, one of the researchers said.
