Carlisle Cos. Inc., the parent company of Carlisle Tire & Wheel, saw 17% sales growth in the second quarter, but profits were up only marginally due to mounting costs. In the tire and wheel segment, sales of consumer outdoor power equipment were down 28%, though the drop was offset by stronger sales of tires for commercial power equipment, construction and agricultural machines. CEO David Roberts said across-the-board price increases will improve results in the third and fourth quarters.
