ConocoPhillips recently beat out Exxon Mobil Corp. and Royal Dutch Shell to win a contract to help Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. develop a high-sulfur, sour-gas field in the United Arab Emirates. ConocoPhillips, the third-largest oil company in the United States, will hold a 40% stake in field, and will share the costs associated with developing the project, including gas-gathering plants and systems that can process 1 billion cubic feet of sour gas a day.
