U.S. regulators were right to shore up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, but now must decide what to do with the two government-sponsored enterprises going forward, according to a Financial Times editorial. "The current structure for Fannie and Freddie is unsustainable. The GSEs are poorly regulated. They have given successive U.S. governments an incentive to keep the housing market inflated," the newspaper said.
