Quickservice Italian chain Fazoli's is moving forward with a fast-casual Italian dining concept that will offer pasta bowls, salads and wraps, a move that will put the company in competition with Ohio-based Piada Italian Street Food restaurants. "It's where I see fast-casual heading. This is the next generation. It's going to compel a much larger audience," Fazoli's CEO Carl Howard said.
Job growth at small businesses increased in June with the smallest gain in almost six years -- 7,000 new jobs. Still, modest employment gains by small business while mid- and large-size firms posted elevated losses is "consistent with the comparative resiliency small-size businesses have demonstrated over the past several years," said Joel Prakken, chairman of Macroeconomic Advisers.
