Malaga, a coastal city in Spain, is one of western Europe's oldest -- and most lovely -- cities. Pablo Picasso was born in the town's Plaza de la Merced and spent the first 10 years of his life there, but fell out of favor with the country's rulers for opposing the Franco regime. Picasso's star has risen once again in his hometown as a museum to honor his work has been erected and the airport terminal and a main avenue have been renamed for him.
