The International Conference on Alzheimer's Disease in Chicago showcased several studies that identified certain biomarkers for early detection of the disease. One study found that variations in the levels of CD-69 -- a protein linked to white blood cell development and production -- helped researchers distinguish between cognitively normal people and those suffering from Alzheimer's disease or Parkinson's-related dementia.
