Verizon Wireless has endorsed a proposal in Congress aimed at ending state and locally imposed taxes on mobile services. Dubbed "The Cell Tax Fairness Act," the measure would forbid state and local governments from imposing any new discriminatory tax on mobile services, mobile-service providers or mobile-service property for five years. "Verizon Wireless has always said wireless customers should not be subject to unfair and discriminatory taxes, and this bill addresses that issue directly," said Steve Zipperstein, general counsel for Verizon Wireless.
