A federal appeals court in San Francisco overturned a lower-court decision that dismissed a lawsuit from Santa Clara County against drugmakers for allegedly overpricing prescription medicines for use under Medi-Cal, California's Medicaid program. The 3-0 ruling is the first in the U.S. to recognize counties' rights to sue manufacturers under a 1992 law that regulates the price of Medicaid drugs for the benefit of counties.
