Redesigning nursing education, examining faculty salaries and making the nursing community aware of opportunities in education are critical to addressing the nursing shortage, participants learned at the Nursing Education Capacity Summit this summer. Some schools in Illinois already are redesigning education programs to connect nursing students with local health care facilities for clinical training, and the state has created a government subcabinet to tackle the nursing shortage.
