The Lean team program at Pampa Regional Medical Center in Texas is looking at the hospital experience from both the patient and the staff perspective, trying to reduce unnecessary work for nurses and long waits and confusion among patients. Staff are encouraged to find problems and fix them. For example, they've discovered that moving linen carts to a more strategic position in the hallway saves the average nurse 63 miles of walking and 21 hours per year.
