Maryland's Health Insurance Partnership, which gives small businesses subsidies to help them afford health care coverage, met the needs of Adrienne Summers this year when she quit her job to work full-time at her floral shop. Businesses with fewer than nine full-time workers can get up to half their insurance premiums paid through the program. The amount of the subsidy depends on what kind of coverage is needed and how much the workers earn.
