McDonald's Chief Executive Officer James Skinner told analysts Wednesday that changes to the company's value menu are coming and could involve the double cheeseburger. McDonald's has increased prices on approximately 4% on its main menu items in 2008 but has not touched the dollar menu.
Restaurants examining price and supply contracts for the upcoming year are predicting higher food costs that could lead to menu changes and increased prices. CKE Restaurants already has replaced Double Cheeseburgers with Jumbo Chili Dogs and Hot Ham 'N' Cheese Sandwiches in a low-priced offer, and McDonald's is considering changes to its dollar menu.

Blockbuster CEO Jim Keyes says his company now is selling between 2,000 and 3,000 Blu-ray disc players each week. Thanks to aggressively promoting the new media format with in-store kiosks, Keyes says Blockbuster is "seeding the Blu-ray population" from a hardware and software perspective.
