Sony foresees a slowdown in consumer-electronics sales in Western Europe this year, but expects double-digit growth for TVs, said CEO Howard Stringer, even as he restated his goal for Sony to become the No. 1 seller of LCD TVs globally by 2010. Sharp also had a prediction. It expects global demand for LCD TVs to pass the 100-million mark some time this year. For the year ended March 31, world demand for LCD TVs came in at 76.5 million.
