Although there are no female CEOs in Silicon Valley, women are playing major roles in the top ranks of Google, Oracle and Hewlett-Packard, and a new generation of women is making its mark at startups such as Ning, Six Apart and Johnson & Johnson's BabyCenter, according to veteran business reporter Sarah Lacy. "For many women -- me included -- the refreshing thing about this wave is the nondefensive, 'so what?' nature of being a woman in tech," Lacy writes.
