The Army Corps of Engineers has made crane safety a top priority in Texas. The Corps of Engineers is requiring crane operators to show proof-of-training certificates and have medical evaluations before beginning work.
"Crane safety is a national issue," said Doug McMurry, executive vice president of the San Antonio Chapter of the Virginia-based Associated General Contractors. "We are committed to being a partner with (the Corps) so we don't have any accidents on local job sites. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is very thoughtful as it relates to safety."
