Despite Sunday's successful ground test of a high-energy laser, Boeing Co. says congressional budget cuts are endangering the future of the full, air-based missile defense system. "It would be a shame to mark even a small amount of the president's budget request ... every dollar is very important," Mark Rinn, Boeing's vice president and program director. The House Appropriations Committee has voted to slash about 10% from the Missile Defense Agency's $421 million budget for the laser program.
