Writer Matthew Link, citing the emerging national profile of U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., the embrace of the LGBT community by Michelle Obama and the potential of out U.S. House candidates Jared Polis and Linda Ketner, believes the Democratic convention may have marked a turning point in a more civil and inclusive form of politics. "Seeing everything happen up-close and in real time over the course of a few days made me feel like something indeed was stirring in the country," Link writes. "The discontent, the lies, the cronyism, the despair of the Bush years seems to have given birth to something unexpected and profound and true."
