Officials hope the new North Terminal at the Detroit Metro Airport will boost the city' image. The state-of-the-art terminal cost $431 million to build, but six of its 24 gates remain vacant due to financial woes in the airline industry. "We have a world-class airport, and it will get even better next week with the opening of the new terminal," Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano said.
