Mobile Gaming is Tricky Ground for Marketers

EMarketer projects that mobile games will generate $7 billion in revenues worldwide in 2012, up from $1.9 billion in 2007. The population of mobile gamers who pay directly for mobile games will grow from 155 million people worldwide in 2007 to 500 million in 2012. In terms of spending on advertising support for mobile games, eMarketer expects marketers to spend $1.3 billion worldwide in 2012, up from $97 million in 2007. Mobile game revenues lag well behind those of other non-voice mobile services, including music and messaging.
