Howard Millar, deputy CEO of Irish discounter Ryanair, predicts Europe eventually will have just five airlines as the consolidation trend picks up steam. Millar said Ryanair and easyJet would be two of the survivors, and a company spokesman later confirmed British Airways, Lufthansa and Air France/KLM as the other three. Speaking at an airline conference in London, Millar said consolidation would lead to fewer jobs and fewer flights, although fares might come down.
