With its board chairman under a federal fraud investigation, Sun Country Airlines is seeking financial independence from parent company Petters Group Worldwide. Sun Country CEO Stan Gadek said the airline would not seek any more cash from the Petters Group and would keep flying no matter what happens in the case against Tom Petters. "I will do whatever it takes to ensure the viability of this company and the jobs for our employees and being able to fly for our customers," Gadek said, noting that Petters provided about $25 million to cover operating losses last year.
