The CEO of online travel site FareCompare.com says airlines could go from rags to riches in 2009, a prospect endangered only by the volatile price of oil. Rick Seaney says hundreds of millions of dollars in bag fees along with capacity cuts totaling 70 million seats are helping to fuel the turnaround. He also notes that fuel surcharges now average $67 on a domestic round trip and that airfares increased almost weekly throughout the first half of the year.
