Women reported more cancer pain overall and received less pain relief medication than men, according to a study of 131 patients at a cancer pain clinic. Researchers say women had higher scores for average pain over the past week and current pain levels. They also received about half the average total daily dose of morphine than men and were less likely to be given prescriptions for powerful opioid pain killers.
