A magazine writer says he forged boarding passes and smuggled prohibited items through security lines from coast to coast in an effort to show that the TSA "represents an egregious waste of tax dollars." A TSA spokeswoman responded that Jeffrey Goldberg's article in The Atlantic is "more of an entertainment piece than a treatment of security," though she did say that new scanners now in use at eight airports would help catch fliers with phony boarding passes.
