In the view of many U.S. business groups, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Business Roundtable, Republican presidential candidate John McCain's plan to revamp the health care system will speed the decay of employer-paid health insurance and have little impact on the 45 million uninsured Americans. McCain's free-market strategy will further burden struggling small businesses and old-line manufacturers, business advocates say.
