The MD-RN Collaborative at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles has cooled tensions and solved a divisive communications battle between nurses and physicians. Since the program began in 2000, satisfaction scores have increased and nurses are treated with more respect. The collaborative found technical or process issues, a lack of communication and understanding, and the erosion of courtesy and respect were major problems that needed to be addressed.
