When asked to compare the presidential candidates to brands, respondents in a survey said Democrat Barack Obama was like Google, BMW and Target, and while Republican John McCain was associated with AOL, Ford and Wal-Mart, according to research firm Penn, Schoen & Berland. The 2008 Presidential ImagePower survey also found that Obama evoked the image of James Bond, while McCain was likened by respondents to Jack Bauer, while both were linked to the Starbucks, iPod and MySpace brands.
