The U.S. oil and natural industry's drilling activity continues to outpace last year's levels and is about double that of 1990s levels, according to API's third-quarter 2008 drilling estimates. API reported the completion of nearly 16,400 oil, natural gas or dry-hole operations in the U.S. in the third quarter -- 16% more than the same period last year.
