A new report from the GAO says that the CDC should rethink its redesign of BioSense, an electronic surveillance system that identifies disease patterns. "The costs and benefits of using data from the current implementation of the BioSense system and other similar systems are difficult to measure and compare, and public health and hospital officials with whom we spoke do not document or track the costs and benefits of using these systems," the report said.
