Amazon.com is partnering with retailers in an effort to cut down on the packaging required to ship goods. The online retailer will ship products in plain brown cardboard boxes and without extraneous containers or packaging elaborately sealed with plastic.
Target is focusing on the value aspect of its "Expect More, Pay Less" message in a new marketing campaign. Target will "be much more explicit about our 'Pay Less' proposition because the economic pain that our guests are feeling is real," said Michael Francis, executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
Consumers used to buying luxury goods are buying more eco-friendly and lower-priced products as the economic crisis continues and American trends lean toward environmental consciousness. Peter Boneparth, former CEO of Jones Apparel Group, noted that "it's no longer chic to be spending."
