Part of a bridge that connects Minnesota's Washington and Dakota counties has collapsed. Don Theisen, Washington County's chief engineer, said a 200-foot piece of the bridge between two columns on the Washington County side of the Mississippi River fell to the shore late last week. He said the bridge, which is now closed to the public, needs immediate attention and suggested that the entire bridge is deteriorating. "The rest of the structure isn't in any better shape," he said. "It's not like Dakota County's side is any better."
