New England fuel oil dealers sent a letter to U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson asking for help under the bailout legislation. Some dealers locked in contracts when oil was at a high of $147 a barrel and now have to pay that higher cost even though the price of oil has plummeted. The letter was signed by fuel dealer trade associations in all the New England states, as well as in New Jersey and New York.
