The new Indianapolis International Airport, scheduled to open today, is being billed as the first major facility designed and built with post-9/11 security in mind. Screening checkpoints offer both family lanes and expert traveler lanes, and psychologists helped design the spaces to be soothing and stress-reducing. Behind the scenes, a high-tech baggage system includes nine in-line screening machines to reduce handling by TSA personnel, allowing passengers to arrive at the airport closer to their flight times.
