From body language to tone of voice, it's the little things that add up to a big first impression. Take speed-talking. "Bright people have a tendency to talk fast because their minds move fast," voice coach Sandra McKnight says. But listeners perceive a fast talker to be anxious instead of smart -- not exactly the first impression one would hope for.
