The National Transportation Safety Board recently released its report on the August 2007 Interstate 35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis, saying Sverdrup & Parcel and Associates made an error in the design of gusset plates at the U10 nodes. When traffic and construction equipment combined with an already too-heavy bridge, the gusset plates failed. According to the report, the company lacked quality control and adequate design review by transportation officials.
