Two teams of scientists have decoded the genomes of a Han Chinese man and a male from the Yoruba ethnic group in West Africa with the help of gene sequencers from biotech firm Illumina. The scientists hope to examine and compare the genomes with those of biotech entrepreneur Craig Venter and James Watson -- who co-discovered DNA's double-helix design -- to identify variations that may be tied to diseases.
