Russian President Dmitry Medvedev used his first state of the nation address to warn the U.S. against placing an antimissile system in Poland and the Czech Republic. Medvedev said Russia would respond by positioning short-range missiles along the Polish border and by attempting radio jamming of the U.S. system. Some experts said the threats amounted to little more than political posturing for a domestic audience.
