Central Florida's space industry, hit hard by the impending loss of the space shuttle program, has high hopes for the Falcon 9 rocket scheduled to launch this spring. A successful launch of the commercial rocket from SpaceX could bring more than 100 new jobs to the area, and Florida's space agency is kicking in $1 million to help renovate a launch pad for Falcon 9 at Cape Canaveral. SpaceX hopes to launch four of the rockets next year for both NASA and commercial clients.
