Fliers removing their shoes for screening at U.S. airports will soon be reminded they can buy new shoes at Zappos.com, following the TSA's decision to expand advertising at airport security checkpoints. Companies like Zappos will provide free equipment such as carts, tables and plastic bins in exchange for the right to advertise to a captive audience in their stocking feet. In a year-long experiment at 14 airports, the TSA says advertisers provided $435,000 in new checkpoint equipment at no cost to taxpayers.
