Thousands of U.N. peacekeepers could be endangered and Sudan's fragile peace process impaired if the International Criminal Court issues a warrant for the arrest of Sudan president Omar al-Bashir later this month. "We are concerned about suggestions of an uncontrolled reaction to an indictment by the population against UNMIS," said Edmond Mulet, assistant secretary-general for peacekeeping. Judges last month asked the chief prosecutor for more evidence to support charging Bashir with alleged war crimes, including genocide in Darfur.
