A decline in tax revenue has forced Utah transportation officials to postpone all pending road construction. The state is postponing $3.9 billion in projects but says it will continue work on $2 billion in current projects. The decision will hurt the construction industry, said Richard Thorn, president of the Associated General Contractors of Utah. "That's got to affect a lot of bodies," Thorn said. "But at the end of the day, the jobs have been suspended, not canceled, and that gives us confidence that in the future this work will proceed and will be ramped up again."
