No longer joined at the hip, South Africa's Vodacom and Telkom have outlined aggressive strategies for expanding their telecom businesses into additional African markets. Vodacom, which is controlled by Vodafone, said it was looking for opportunities to push its wireless operations into markets such as Nigeria and Angola, which carry good potential for growth; wireline operator Telkom, which said it was close to selling much of its stake in its pay-TV company, is also seeking to invest in markets such as Nigeria.
