The city commission in Albany, Ga., approved changes to the city's sign ordinance that will allow digital messages to change every 20 seconds instead of a minute. The amendment also will allow for 100 electronic signs in the city, up from 75.
A Georgia school district has found that changes to the federal E-Rate program actually will cost them billions of dollars. While the district had paid 10% of its telecommunications costs and telephone bill charges -- with E-Rate picking up the rest -- the district now will pay 20% more annually until it eventually pays for all telecommunications costs.
The peanut industry is cracking down on food safety efforts, particularly in how the nuts are stored and how they are eliminated. The industry program is offering training courses to show farmers how to avoid contamination in storage facilities and how to keep birds from building nests in peanut pits.
