More than 170 Los Angeles teens who have been expelled, jailed or weathered other tough circumstances earned their high school diplomas Saturday from alternative high schools. "I want to show [my son] that even though people make mistakes, you can still pull yourself up," said Jasmine Saucedo, 18, who gave birth nine months ago and finished her classwork via independent study while working eight hours a day.
