President-elect Barack Obama is resisting calls from the Bush administration to get more involved in shaping the rest of the Treasury Department's $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program. "Until Secretary Paulson indicates publicly that he's drawing down the second tranche, the second half of the TARP money, it would be speculation on my part to suggest that [the first tranche of] that money is going to be used up," Obama said. Paulson could draw down the second, $350 billion tranche as early as next week.
