Patient Perspective

"I'm not the type to try to get sympathy for my condition. I approach it with humor. I remember being sedated still and waking up from my first colonoscopy looking at the pictures and saying, "Can we put this on a Christmas card? Label it Jingle Bowels?" That's how you have to look at it. Sitting there feeling sorry for yourself doesn't help anything ... plus it makes it unbearable to [the people] around you. Yes, we know you have a chronic illness, yes we know it hurts ... but go into it positively." -- posting on Crohn's & Colitis Community
